When we dedicate time to God we do so for a number of reasons. The first SHOULD be because of our love and devotion towards him for all he has done IN, TO, and THROUGH us. We also want open lines of communication, or a feeling of his presence in our life, or perhaps, to find forgiveness in his never ending grace.

As we pursue God, the desired response for most of us is just that, “A response”, to “HEAR” God, “FEEL” God, Or to Know that God is here in our present reality. That, my friends, is a healthy, and attainable desire.

When we pursue God he promises to show up.Matt. 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied”. Even with this knowledge, have you ever been pursuing God and felt like you COULDN’T, hear, feel, or know that God is Near?

Perhaps it is due to the fact that we are looking for God to speak, act, or demonstrate who he is on OUR terms. This is counter intuitive because then it wouldn’t be God…it would be us. Often God is speaking directly to us but we fail to hear him because we are listening in the wrong direction.

Have you ever read a portion of the Bible and something leapt off the pages at you? Ever been listening to a Sermon, lecture, or testimony and been inspired to make changes in your life? Have you ever felt an overwhelming since of Peace, or fulfillment? These are all ways that God communicates with us. However, in 1st Kings 19:12 we discover another form of communication. “A still Small Voice”. That is when God downloads something so important, so, life altering, and so essential that we have to remove, EVERY distraction in order to hear his voice. That may take time, because lets face it, we have spent our whole life focusing on “distractions”.

Be patient, be ready, and be quiet, listening for the still small voice.
