Our church just started a new church wide summer series called Love Revolution. During the weeks leading up to this series, Pastor Dave asked us to keep an open heart to the things God wanted to do in and through us. Of course I was open, of course I wanted to hear what God wanted to do in me. I was pumped. Week one…Pastor Dave starts with a story about a man whom God told to push a Boulder. http://www.faithbasedblog.com/2005/11/compass_class_weathering_the_s.html

As I listened to this story I immediately thought of a friend who was discouraged and really needed to hear this message. I knew he would benefit from it so I started praying for him. As I did, God spoke to me, he said this story was not for my friend, but for ME. He brought to my attention some things that had been discouraging to me earlier that week and how I had allowed the voice of the enemy to supersede his direction for my life. Then I remembered Pastor Dave asking us to open our hearts to what God wanted to do…I hadn’t done that at all. It takes real focus to have an open heart, but that focus is so beneficial. When we close our hearts, we close him out. God always chooses to work through open lives, open perspectives, and open hearts!
