It amazes me that Christ’s own people did not accept him, but Herod and Pilate did. They found no wrong in Christ contrary to to the religious leaders of the day. because the change that Christ spoke of meant; they would loose power, they had to forgive, and they could no longer depend on the religious customs that they basted of. It meant they were no longer “better” then others, but rather, all were equal in the sight of God.
Why are we so defiant to change? When change is the very agent that God used to bring Salvation to humanity. Even after his death Chris had to “open” the minds of the disciples to the scripture. (Lk 24:45) We know that God has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness, (II Pet. 1:3) and we know that the God of the old testament is the same God of the new testament. Why did so many MISS the Christ that was plainly before them?
Perhaps it became more about ritual and less about relationship. Or perhaps years of oppression weighed heavy on their hearts, preventing truth from being seen. Or perhaps, CHANGE, the agent needed, was so greatly feared that it clouded judgement and quenched the power of God in their lives
