Isn’t Christianity supposed to be “Christ” centered?
I am Frustrated! I have now started this blog FOUR times, each beginning with a negative and whiny undertone. However, I can not think of a different way to confront this frustration.
Why do we as Christians allow our issues, shortcomings, and emotional baggage, to be the focal point of our walk with Christ. I completely understand that we are all in a process of sanctification, or learning to live as He wants us to, but is a self centered approach to Christianity what God intended?
Isn’t Christianity supposed to be Christ Centered?
His thoughts, plans, hopes, and purpose?
Is it possible that if we find ourselves repeatedly seeking counsel from confidants or pastors, on the same issue, we may be more focused on ourselves than Christ?
If we are truly focused on God, then he is “THE” focal point. Romans 8:9 (MSG) But if God himself has taken up residence in your life, you can hardly be thinking more of yourself than of him….
If we are focused on Him, then we can’t help but become “His” disciples. To be the extension of Christ on this earth. To exemplify love in action. The scripture is very clear as to how others will know his disciples, by the fruit that they bear. (John 15:8) http://bible.us/John15.8.ESV
What kind of fruit do you produce? More “SELF” discovery? The continual need for a pep talk or counseling session? To be coddled and validated by others, again and again as if His validation is not enough? In Romans 8:37-39 http://www.youversion.com/bible/esv/rom/8/8 Christ issues the edict of the unshakable hope and Love that he has for you and I. What more could we possibly need? If you find yourself in a self-centered, cyclical life pattern, (as I have so many times) it’s time to re-focus on Him.
I know I’m living a Christ Centered life when I’m focused on what he wants…
To Reach people and impact their life for eternity.
To be “Others” focused and Christ centered.
After all, that is why he came isn’t it, for us? http://bible.us/Luke19.10.ESV
