Tonight was one of those nights where the preverbal stars aligned to create a great moment. Our little family gathered in the living room as we shuffled through dance music. Brooklyn (7yrs0 and Avery (2yrs) erupted into an awesome display of dance. The music was an eclectic array, ranging from DC Talk to Skynyrd. Meghan and I were dragged into it a few times as well but it was totally worth it. From an outside perspective it would appear cheesy, embarrassing, and devoid of rhythm. However, for the Robinson Family it was a picture of Comfort. I could feel a sense of peace in the hearts and minds of my daughters, and a sense of gratitude in my wife. I realized all of this as I watched Avery blow her nose into three squares of tissue, immediately run up to me, and wipe my nose with that very tissue. Oddly enough, it was a beautiful moment. Only a dad could appreciate it, and only a daughter would offer such a gift. I didn’t get a spiritual picture of the gift God gave us, or devise a three point sermon from the gesture. It was simply an unforgettable moment. A moment with my children, and my wife. A reminder of how beautiful life can be, even with your daughters snot on your face. It was a moment, a picture, or a reminder, that God is good and he is in control.
